Greenfield Camp

This weekend our Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders spent the weekend camping at Gloverspiece Minifarm. The camp was a greenfield site without plumbed toilets or hot running water, and the Scouts paired up to choose and cook their own menus. We also helped out on the farm, mucking out the horses donkeys and feeding the animals, as part of the Community Service required for the World Challenge Award.

Our thanks to Cllr. Lynne Duffy and SL Alan Partridge for their invaluable help, and congratulations to Gary for achieving his Greenfield Camping Permit.

Summer Camp at Kinver

For this year’s Summer Camp we spent three nights at the Kinver Scout Campsite in Staffordshire.

The weather was glorious and the Scouts got to try out climbing, crate stacking, archery, rifle shooting, orienteering and hiking. They cooked all their own meals (apart from our chip supper on Friday) and had a very raucous evening’s entertainment around the camp fire. We even managed an unexpected game of lasertag thanks to our noisy neighbours from Kidderminster.

Cooking Night at Fortis Living community Garden.

In the Spring the Cubs planted and cared for their seeds, when the seedlings were ready they planted them in the Community Garden.

Tonight the time has come to reap the rewards. The cubs picked prepared and cooked the vegetables, making a very tasty stew for all to enjoy, and with a bit of luck earned some credit towards their Adventure Challenge Badge.

Thank you 3rd Droitwich Cubs for a very tasty tea!

Badge Camp; Spring 2015

Another fantastic Badge Camp at Rhydd Covert, near Bewdley. This year we took Patrol tents rather than two-man expedition tents and the Scouts seemed to enjoy that experience – judging by the lack of sleeping going on Friday night!

For the first time in five years, the camp achieved a 100% record with everyone earning their badge; between them, our Scouts received Pioneering, Camp Cook, Mechanic, Forester and the much sought after Master at Arms: Archery.

As ever, our thanks to the organising and catering teams at Rhydd, and to the H&W Activate team for providing instructors for all the activities.

Local Landmarks

Over the half-term holiday, the Scouts took ‘selfies’ with some local landmarks.
