On 10th March 1986, after many years of hard work, planning and fundraising, Chief Scout, Major-General Michael Walsh opened the new Scout Headquarters on Cockshute Hill in Droitwich.

This year, we celebrate thirty years of ‘the hut’; can you spot the current Scout Leader in these photos?

In the Spring the Cubs planted and cared for their seeds, when the seedlings were ready they planted them in the Community Garden.

Tonight the time has come to reap the rewards. The cubs picked prepared and cooked the vegetables, making a very tasty stew for all to enjoy, and with a bit of luck earned some credit towards their Adventure Challenge Badge.

Thank you 3rd Droitwich Cubs for a very tasty tea!

Fortis Living community Garden

Back in May the Cubs planted up some runner beans and peas to take home and care for over half term. Three weeks on we met up, trowels in hand with Paul and Liz, at Fortis Living Community Garden to plant out the resulting seedlings. The Cubs also bought along a selection of bedding plants to add to the garden.

Not only does this activity aide the Community Garden, it also counts as credits for the Cubs working towards their Community and Global awards.

Group AGM

A family barbeque and the Annual General Meeting will be held at the headquarters building on Friday 19th September 2014 at 7.00pm.

All parents and siblings are invited to attend, when you will have the opportunity to meet the scout leaders, members of the executive committee and hear of the activities undertaken during the past year, which this year will be hopefully be presented by some of the young people.

The election of members to the Executive Committee for the next year will also be held; if you would like to be elected or know anyone who may be able to help please let me know before the 19th. You will not be “pressed” into helping, but fresh ideas are always welcome! We do have to have parents on the Executive Committee to be able to run.

We are particularly looking for a new Chairperson, as our current one is standing down this year.

This year after the meeting, which should be no more than half an hour, we are hoping to do a BBQ (weather permitting).

We look forward to meeting you on Friday 19th September 2014.
