Greenfield Camp

This weekend our Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders spent the weekend camping at Gloverspiece Minifarm. The camp was a greenfield site without plumbed toilets or hot running water, and the Scouts paired up to choose and cook their own menus. We also helped out on the farm, mucking out the horses donkeys and feeding the animals, as part of the Community Service required for the World Challenge Award.

Our thanks to Cllr. Lynne Duffy and SL Alan Partridge for their invaluable help, and congratulations to Gary for achieving his Greenfield Camping Permit.

Wolves v Lions

No, not the latest showdown in our Patrol dodgeball competition, but our annual visit to Worcester University Arena to watch the Worcester Wolves in the BBL. As usual, the match was fast and exciting – and very close with Worcester eventually beating the London Lions 99-91. Even better, we were invited onto the court afterwards for a photo with the team. Cheers guys! #gowolves

County Climbing Competition

Congratulations to Owen Dyson who won the ‘Scout’ class in the H&W County Climbing Competition on Sunday. Owen successfully ‘topped out’ ten of his twelve climbs at the first attempt, and was awarded a star for his determination when tackling the tricky F6B+ ‘Dynamic Challenge’.

Our thanks to the Activate team for organising the event, and to Dave at Vertical Limit in Worcester for hosting us.

GB1CUB Calling

This weekend, some of our Scouts got involved with the JOTA/JOTI weekend by attending a session hosted by Bromsgrove and District Amateur Radio Club at the Avoncroft Arts Centre.

The Scouts learned about Morse code, Q codes and QSL cards and radio callsigns, and then got a chance to talk on the air with radio amateurs M6IOI and M0LXP (thanks, guys). They also spoke to Scouts in Hallow and Gilwell via Skype, and chatted online to JOTI participants from all over the world.

Our thanks to the BDARC for organising this event.
